The Chinese Shenzhou-Thursday marked the first extravehicular activity (EVA) for 16 taikonauts, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).During the eight-hour spacewalk, Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhi, and Gui Haichao completed all assigned duties with the aid of robotic arms.
During the spacewalk, the taikonauts performed a variety of duties, including the installation of a bracket and the lifting of panorama camera B on the core module, as well as the unlocking and lifting of panorama cameras A and B on the Mengtian lab module.
Jing and Zhu participated in the spacewalk. Zhu is the first flight engineer in space to conduct an EVA.
The Shenzhou-16 crew will conduct numerous space science investigations as well as multiple EVAs.
China launched the Shenzhou-16 manned spacecraft on 30 May, dispatching three taikonauts on a five-month mission to its space station.
