Rishi Sunak, Akshata Murty celebrate Diwali with family at 10 Downing Street
Indians across the world celebrated Diwali yesterday with full fervour and enthusiasm. Among them was Rishi Sunak as well. The UK Prime Minister celebrated the festival of lights with his family at 10 Downing Street in London. He also shared pictures from his official handle on Instagram.
The pictures featured Sunak with his wife and daughter of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, Akshata Murty. His daughters were also present as the family lit diyas outside the residence.
Akshata was dressed in a blue saree and the young girls were also wearing traditional clothes.
“A special moment for me to be celebrating Diwali with my family on the steps of No.10. Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating here in the UK and around the world!” Sunak captioned the post.
The post went viral with hundreds of comments from Sunak’s followers. Several people exchanged wishes in the comments section as well.
Meanwhile, Sunak also met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his wife at his official residence. The foreign minister presented him with a Lord Ganesha idol and a cricket bat signed by Virat Kohli.

Earlier, Sunak and Akshata hosted a special Diwali reception at 10 Downing Street. The gala was attended by prominent members of the Indian community and Bollywood stars such as Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna and Preity Zinta.
