Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been named the world’s most popular democratic leader for the fifth consecutive time, achieving a 75% approval rating in Morning Consult’s recent survey. Conducted from July 4–10, 2025, the poll ranked Modi ahead of South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung (59%). Modi’s enduring popularity reflects strong domestic and global appeal, with consistent approval ratings since 2021. The milestone coincides with Modi surpassing Indira Gandhi’s tenure, becoming India’s second-longest-serving Prime Minister, further solidifying his leadership legacy.

Based on the most recent Global Leader Approval Ratings survey by the US-based research company Morning Consult, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again been named the most popular democratic leader in the world. At the top for the fifth time in a row, Modi has maintained his position with an impressive 75% approval rate. The poll, which took place from July 4 to July 10, 2025, looks at how well democracy leaders around the world are doing by taking rolling seven-day averages.

Leading the world rankings

Modi's approval rate was much higher than that of other well-known leaders, like South Korea's new President Lee Jae Myung, who got 59% approval, ranking second. Three out of every four Indians who answered the poll were happy with Modi's performance, eighteen percent were unhappy, and seven percent were not sure.

With a 44% approval score, US President Donald Trump, who came back to the White House in 2024, was placed eighth on the list. Analysts say Trump's lower ranking is due to ongoing problems at home and controversial trade policies that have made Americans very divided.

Morning Consult made it clear that their results come from data gathered from adults in all involved countries and are based on a simple moving average that goes back seven days.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) praised Modi's success, and Amit Malviya, head of the IT cell, talked about how important the poll was on the social media site X (formerly Twitter). Malviya wrote, "Mr. Narendra Modi is once again the highest-rated and most trusted leader in the world. He is loved by over a billion Indians and respected by millions of people around the world." Very good management. Respect for all. Bharat is in good hands.

The news comes at the same time as another important moment in Modi's political career. He recently beat Indira Gandhi's record of 4,077 days as Prime Minister, making it his 4,078th day in office in a row. He has been Prime Minister of India for two terms, which is second only to Jawaharlal Nehru in terms of length of service.

A History of Becoming Popular Over and Over Again

Getting a lot of votes in the Morning Consult poll is not the first time Modi has done this. He has been in charge of the Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker since September 2021. At that point, 70% of people agreed with him. By early 2022, that number had slowly risen to 71%. By 2023, Modi's popularity rating had reached an impressive 76% a number of times. People really liked him a lot. In February 2024, 78% of people agreed with him, making him one of the most trusted leaders in the world.

These steady numbers show that Modi is still popular both in India and around the world. His leadership has not only won over the people of India, but it has also made him a strong and respected figure on the world stage.

The fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to lead in worldwide approval ratings shows that both Indians and people around the world trust and believe in him. His leadership is still a big part of India's growing impact on the world stage, even though he keeps setting new records and goals.
