Errol Musk, the father of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, has expressed his profound admiration for India’s ancient heritage and its contemporary potential during his recent visit to the country. The 78-year-old South African engineer, pilot, and entrepreneur arrived in India on June 1 for a five-day trip, highlighting his deep appreciation for the nation’s history and its people.
In an interview with ANI, Musk shared his thoughts on India’s unique place in the world. "I hold a humble respect for the incredible history of India," he remarked. "In many ways, the story of the world seems to eventually connect back to India."
Musk praised India as a destination that everyone should experience, noting the warmth and kindness of its people. "India is truly a remarkable place. The culture is rich, and the people are filled with love and compassion—among the finest you could meet. I’ve been fortunate to know many Indians in my home country, so I am already familiar with their culture," he said. Musk also hinted at exciting business ventures in the pipeline and expressed optimism about strengthening ties between India and the United States.
Fascination with Ancient Indian Texts
Errol Musk displayed a keen interest in India’s ancient scriptures, particularly the Vedas, which he claims date back over 14,000 years. While historical estimates differ, Musk suggested that these texts discuss advanced technologies, including references to "flying vehicles." Highlighting this concept, he spoke about vimanas, which are described in ancient Sanskrit epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana as aerial crafts used by gods and legendary heroes.
"I’ve studied these Vedas, and some of them speak of flying machines. I even carry these texts with me," Musk shared, adding that he has written a book featuring stories and insights about India, including mentions of notable regions like Kashmir and Delhi. The notion of vimanas has long intrigued historians, spiritual thinkers, and speculative researchers, adding an element of mystique to India’s ancient heritage.
Collaboration with Indian Industry
Errol Musk’s visit also carries a professional dimension. He was recently appointed to the global advisory board of Servotech, an Indian company specializing in technology and clean energy solutions. According to a statement from the company, Musk will provide strategic guidance to its leadership team, leveraging his vast experience in infrastructure, technology, and sustainable energy.
During his five-day stay, Musk is scheduled to visit Servotech’s manufacturing facilities and participate in discussions with key government officials and investors. These sessions aim to foster collaboration and explore new opportunities for innovation and growth.
Errol Musk’s visit underscores not only his admiration for India’s historical and spiritual richness but also his recognition of the country’s growing role in global technological and industrial advancements. As he concludes his trip on June 6, his engagements are expected to leave a lasting impression on both cultural and business fronts.
