Adani Green Energy Becomes World’s Largest Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Developer

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), the renewables arm of the Adani Group, has commissioned a 450 MW wind-solar hybrid power plant in Rajasthan.

With this hybrid plant, Adani Green Energy now has the largest operational hybrid power generation capacity of 1.4 GW at a single location.

This also makes AGEL the world’s largest wind-solar hybrid power farm developer.

This plant in Jaisalmer is its third wind-solar hybrid power plant and consists of 420 MW solar and 105 MW wind plants.

The hybrid power plant integrated through solar and wind power generation, harnesses the full potential of renewable energy by resolving the intermittency of the generation and provides a more reliable solution to meet the rising power demand.

The new plant has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) with tariff at Rs. 2.67 per kWh for 25 years.

The tariff well below the Average Power Procurement Cost (APPC) at national level, will help deliver access to affordable, modern, and clean energy to all.

Earlier, in May 2022, AGEL had operationalised India’s first hybrid power plant of 390 MW. This was followed by the commissioning, in September 2022, of the world’s largest co-located hybrid power plant of 600 MW. Both these hybrid energy generation assets are located in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

With the successful commissioning of this 450 MW plant, AGEL now has an operational capacity of 7.17 GW, which places AGEL well on track to meet its vision of 45 GW renewable capacity by 2030.
