The United States has strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, expressing solidarity with India. DNI Tulsi Gabbard and President Trump reaffirmed support for India's pursuit of justice, labeling the attack as heinous. The Resistance Front, linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the massacre. In response, India imposed diplomatic and trade restrictions on Pakistan, which retaliated with similar measures. The attack has drawn widespread global condemnation, highlighting the urgent need for international collaboration against terrorism.

The United States has expressed unwavering solidarity with India following the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead. In a powerful statement released on Friday, Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), reaffirmed the US's support for India's efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
"We stand united with India in the aftermath of this horrific Islamist terror attack that targeted and killed 26 Hindus in Pahalgam," Gabbard stated on the DNI’s official social media account on X. She extended her condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the victims' families, and the people of India. "Our prayers are with you, and we fully support your pursuit of those responsible for this heinous crime," she added.
US Leadership Condemns the Attack
Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump also denounced the Pahalgam massacre, describing it as a "heinous attack." Echoing similar sentiments, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce emphasized the US's firm stance against terrorism. "As President Trump and Secretary Rubio have consistently stated, the United States firmly stands with India and condemns all acts of terrorism," Bruce said. However, he declined to comment on whether the US believes Pakistan was involved in the incident.
US lawmakers have also voiced strong condemnation of the attack, pledging their support for India's quest for justice.
One of the Deadliest Attacks Since 2019
The attack, which took place in the picturesque Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, has been described as one of the deadliest incidents in the region since the Pulwama bombing of 2019. Responsibility for the massacre has reportedly been claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which has been banned internationally.
Diplomatic Fallout Between India and Pakistan
In response to the attack, India has implemented a series of stringent diplomatic measures aimed at Pakistan. Among these actions, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed the integrated check post at the Attari-Wagah border, and terminated SAARC visa exemptions for Pakistani nationals. Additionally, India has revoked previously issued visas, declared Pakistani defense advisers in the High Commission persona non grata, and reduced the commission's staffing to 30 officials. Pakistani nationals living in India under the Special Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) have also been ordered to leave the country within 48 hours.
Pakistan, in retaliation, has announced similar measures, including the closure of the Wagah border for trade, the suspension of SAARC visa exemptions for Indian citizens, and the expulsion of Indian military diplomats.
Global Condemnation and Calls for Justice
The Pahalgam attack has drawn widespread condemnation from around the world. The international community, led by the United States, has reiterated its commitment to combating terrorism and supporting nations in their fight against such atrocities. As India ramps up its efforts to hold the perpetrators accountable, the solidarity expressed by global allies underscores the shared resolve to eliminate the scourge of terrorism.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threats posed by extremist groups and the importance of global cooperation in ensuring peace and security.
