New Delhi: Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday morning at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. The 92-year-old Bharat Ratna recipient had been hospitalised on January 8 after being diagnosed with pneumonia and COVID-19.


Reactions started pouring in after her demise with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying her songs brought out a variety of emotions.


She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades and beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth, the PM said adding that she always wanted to see a strong and developed India,” he tweeted.

“I consider it my honour that I have always received immense affection from Lata Didi. My interactions with her will remain unforgettable. I grieve with my fellow Indians on the passing away of Lata Didi. Spoke to her family and expressed condolences. Om Shanti,” he tweeted.


Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also remembered the legendary singer and reached the hospital to offer his tributes.


“The demise of Lata Mangeshkar is a huge loss for the nation. Her music will be remembered for many generations. I pray that her soul rests in peace,” the Union Minister said.
