Israel Seeks 15,000 Skilled Indian Workers In Second Round Of Recruitment Drive

An Israeli government agency collaborates with NSDC to recruit 10,000 construction workers and 5,000 caregivers, targeting skill shortages in Israel's infrastructure and health sectors. PIBA identifies areas like framework and tiling needing skilled workers. The second recruitment drive is set to start in Maharashtra. Last year's drive saw 10,349 selected from 16,832 candidates earning Rs 1.92 lakh monthly. NSDC stresses pre-departure training for G2G recruits, aiding in cultural adaptation. This initiative aligns with India's ambition to be a global skill powerhouse.

An Israeli government agency has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to spearhead a recruitment drive aimed at filling crucial skill gaps within Israel's infrastructure and health sectors. The initiative seeks to onboard 10,000 construction workers and 5,000 caregivers, reflecting a proactive approach to addressing the country's workforce needs.

According to NSDC, the Israel Population, Immigration, and Border Authority (PIBA) has identified key areas such as framework, iron bending, plastering, and ceramic tiling where skilled manpower is required. A delegation from PIBA, inclusive of assessors, is scheduled to visit India shortly to conduct skill assessments and identify individuals who meet the specified criteria and skill standards. The recruitment process for construction workers is slated to commence in Maharashtra by the end of September, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort between the two nations.

This marks the second recruitment drive initiated by Israel, following a successful campaign last year which saw the selection of 10,349 candidates out of 16,832 who underwent skill assessments between December 2023 and March 2024. The chosen candidates are now lucratively employed, earning a competitive salary of Rs 1.92 lakh per month, in addition to a bonus of Rs 16,515 per month, along with comprehensive benefits including medical insurance, food, and lodging. To date, approximately 5,000 selected candidates have relocated to Israel, embodying the success and impact of such cross-border employment opportunities.

NSDC emphasized the importance of pre-departure training for all candidates engaged in this government-to-government (G2G) recruitment process. This training equips individuals with insights into Israeli culture, lifestyle, and societal norms, facilitating a smooth transition to their new environment. Such international workforce mobility not only benefits the individuals involved but also aligns with the broader vision of positioning India as a global hub for skilled manpower, underpinning the nation's aspiration to become the Skill Capital of the world.
