Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ event in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, emphasized reducing India’s reliance on foreign products under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. He announced projects worth ₹34,200 crore, focusing on maritime development and infrastructure. Criticizing past governments for undervaluing India’s potential, he urged citizens to embrace self-reliance for global stability and prosperity. Modi also highlighted welfare activities under Seva Pakhwada, promoting health, cleanliness, and community service.

In a significant move to promote self-reliance under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to reduce dependency on foreign products and embrace homegrown solutions. Speaking at the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ event in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, PM Modi emphasized that India’s reliance on other countries is the nation’s greatest challenge.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi remarked, “India has no major enemy in the world. Our true adversary is our dependence on others. This dependence hampers our progress and jeopardizes the future of the nation. To ensure global peace, stability, and prosperity, India, the world’s most populous nation, must become self-reliant.”

The event saw the inauguration and foundation laying of several ambitious development projects worth over ₹34,200 crore. The Prime Minister’s keynote speech centered on building a resilient and self-sufficient India, underscoring that the nation cannot entrust the aspirations of its 1.4 billion citizens to external forces. He stated, “If we continue to rely on others, it will erode our self-respect and jeopardize the dreams of our future generations. A self-reliant India is the solution to countless challenges.”

Focus on Maritime Development

The Prime Minister’s visit included laying the groundwork for numerous infrastructure projects, particularly in the maritime sector. Projects worth over ₹7,870 crore were announced, including the inauguration of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock. Highlighting the significance of the Bhavnagar event, PM Modi said, “Though this program is being held in Bhavnagar, its impact is national. Bhavnagar has been chosen as the center for showcasing India’s progress from ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity from the Sea).”

These initiatives aim to enhance regional and maritime infrastructure, reflecting India’s commitment to expanding its economic and logistical capabilities.

Celebrating Seva Pakhwada

The Prime Minister also referred to the ongoing Seva Pakhwada (Fortnight of Service), which commenced on his 75th birthday, September 17, and will conclude on October 2. He highlighted the various welfare activities taking place across Gujarat as part of this initiative.

“In Gujarat alone, over 1 lakh people have donated blood in just a few days. Cleanliness drives have been organized in multiple cities, and more than 30,000 health camps have been set up, focusing on the well-being of women. I extend my gratitude to everyone who has participated in these efforts,” PM Modi said.

As India continues its journey toward self-reliance, PM Modi’s vision emphasizes the importance of reducing foreign dependence and leveraging the nation’s strengths. His call to action resonates with the broader goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat, aiming to empower India’s economy, infrastructure, and people.

The Bhavnagar event and its associated projects mark a significant step toward this vision, reinforcing the message that self-reliance is not merely a policy but a collective national mission.
