China’s exports, foreign investment key to economic growth, Xi Jinping says

President Xi Jinping underlined the importance of exports and foreign investment, both key drivers to China’s overall economic growth, in a speech addressing the major issues for the world’s second-largest economy.

Part of Xi’s speech to December’s central economic work conference was published in the party journal, Qiushi, on Wednesday just over two weeks before the start of the tone-setting “two sessions” in Beijing next month, which will lay out China’s economic targets and priorities for 2023. “We need to stabilise exports to developed countries and expand exports to emerging markets,” said Xi.
