Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make his way to Shamshabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad on February 5 to unveil a 216-foot statue of one of India's most influential theologians and philosophers, Ramanujacharya.
The statute, dubbed the 'Statue of Equality, is believed to be the world's second-largest statue and is a glowing tribute to the 11th-century social reformer. Reportedly made from 120 kg of gold, it sits in a 45-acre complex in Shamshabad, surrounded by 108 Divya Desams and 108 Vishnu temples recreated from the designs of the mystic Tamil saints, the Alwars.

Featuring Ramanujacharya in a seated position on massive lotus built over a three-storied 54-foot structure called Bhadravedi, the statue's inauguration marks the 1000th birth anniversary of the saint.
