At Motera, Trump calls Modi his friend, says India an example of unity
Ahmedabad: US President Donald Trump on Monday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his friend, and called India an example of unity.
"A man I am proud to call my friend, PM Modi. First lady and I have traveled 8,000km to deliver a message that America loves India, respects India. Today, India welcomes us in the world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. To the 1,25,000 people in this stadium - thank you for this welcome. Melania and my family will always remember this hospitality. From this day on, India will hold a very special place in our hearts," the US president said addressing the Namaste Trump event at the Motera Stadium.
Underscoring India's status as an economic giant, Trump remarked on the progress made in areas such as electricity, internet connection, energy over the past 70 years.
